In the middle ages, Oizon was part of the Aubigny estate which had been granted to Jean Stuart of Darnley as a reward for his help, according to the « Auld Alliance ». La Verrerie castle, situated within a green background by a lake used to belong to the Stuarts and afterwards to the de Voguë family. This castle was named after a glass factory near which it was built. It was the source of inspiration for Alain Fournier’s novel « Le Grand Meaulnes ».
