The capital was then under control of the Bourgogne (Burgundy) and Armagnac families led by Jean \u00ab\u00a0sans peur\u00a0\u00bb (fearless John). They were obsessed by one idea\u00a0: taking hold of the king and come to power. Later on, thanks to <strong>Joan of Arc<\/strong>\u2019s intervention, Charles VII defeated the English army at Orl\u00e9ans and the 100 years war will be put to an end. Watch out\u00a0: you are still in France but you are in <strong>Berry<\/strong>. The local language would come to nothing without its famous \u00ab\u00a0tazon\u00a0\u00bb because here in Berry one has no need to hurry\u2026<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Our dear old dialect here in <strong>Berry<\/strong> is very vivid and gets its charm from the way we pronounce the \u00ab\u00a0R\u00a0\u00bb with a husky but soft rolling, the way\u00a0we extend the vowels and with its idiomatic expressions that you can hardly translate into standard French.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>Here&nbsp;is a short glossary to learn or to be able to understand a few typical expressions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Tazonner&nbsp;: to take time<\/li><li>Un agat d\u2019iau&nbsp;: a downpour<\/li><li>Il berouasse&nbsp;: it is drizzling<\/li><li>S\u2019abernaudir&nbsp;: the weather is changing for the worse<\/li><li>Bourrique&nbsp;(faire tourner en bourrique) : to drive somebody crazy<\/li><li>Un pochon&nbsp;: a bag<\/li><li>Ca va-t-y&nbsp;?&nbsp;: How are you&nbsp;?<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2><strong>A landscapes patchwork<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Loire<\/strong> river borders the territory on the east where the view from the <strong>Sancerre vineyards<\/strong> is splendid. The \u00ab&nbsp;<strong>Pays Fort<\/strong>&nbsp;\u00bb is sheltered on the west by the <strong>Sologne <\/strong>legendary forests and ponds&nbsp;; <strong>Berry<\/strong> is a real patchwork of various landscapes and plentiful nature.
